Tribal Tattoos

You may think that tribal tattoos are typically for men, especially around their biceps as an armband. However, just because the design has a more masculine feel to it doesn’t mean the ladies aren’t wearing them too! Tribal tattoos have become a very popular tattoo design for both men and women and have shown up on all parts of their bodies. It’s no longer all about the armband.

The most favorite places for tribal tattoos are down the arm (as a sleeve), around the shoulder, across the chest, across the upper back, down the center of the back, across the lower back, the calves, and wrapped around the ankles. But like I said, they can go anywhere, even curved around the neck.

Tribal tattoos date back to prehistoric times when body markings were for means of initiation and branding of a tribe. They helped people stay connected and proudly show who they belonged with. A tribe member knew who their allies were and who their enemies were all by their tribal markings. Of course today is a little different.

When searching for ideas for tribal tattoos, a lot of people search in free galleries online (like Google images or Flickr) or in the pages at the tattoo shop. But let me ask you this; you want something original, right? You want something that no one else has, right? Well, then you shouldn’t be looking in the same places that everyone and their cousins are looking in! That wouldn’t make much sense.

You have to go where no man has gone before- well, just kidding on that one. But seriously, you have to search in the places that have a HUGE selection and not as many people looking. Where is that place you ask? In a membership based tattoo gallery. There will be a minimal fee but if you’re serious about getting inked, which you should be, then finding the prefect tat that no one else has should be the main priority. Get what YOU want and don’t settle!
